It is not easy to make a general statement

about the various rail trails in our area, other than that they are: usually pretty accessible, easy hiking, and maintained to some degree.
That said, they also are not under any one organization, the railroad tracks that make up the trails passed through various communities, crossed roads, and have had many functions in the past. Some of them not so scenic, you might say. I don’t list the ugly ones, but be aware that you may come across barbed wire fencing from farming or dumped evidence of industry from days gone by.
