Hiking Cottekill

A nice walk starting across the street from the Cottekill Firehouse.
Pretty scenery as you pass old farm meadows and cross the Cottekill Creek on a wooden footbridge.
The trail curves through the old tracks cut through moss covered rocks then parallels Lucas Avenue.
As you get close to the Leggett parking area, the road gets quite close to the trail so be prepared to
corral the roaming pooch. At the Leggett end there is a nice picnic area built by local Boy Scouts.
As with many of the hikes, there are old (some not so old) fences of barbed wire running the length of the trail and into the surrounding woods.
If you have a dog that roams, please be aware of these, not only to respect private property, but also to prevent injury to your pet.
